Wordwall
WordWall is an interactive educational program designed for use on interactive whiteboards. But, unlike other whiteboard software, the WordWall interface concentrates on creating active slides and lessons designed to engage students.
Even though the WordWall Interface is designed to work with the WordPad responders, when used on its own the interactive interface is a powerful whiteboarding tool. WordWall has the usual whiteboard software features such as pens, highlighters, erasers, auto shape, screen capture, etc. But what sets WordWall apart is its utilisation of interactive tiles containing text, images, shapes, or whiteboard annotations. These tiles can be swapped, flipped, hidden, or marked.

With nineteen templates, known as wizards, teachers can instantly convert tile information into classroom activities. Wizards provide activities based around higher-order learning processes such as categorisation, differentiation, and evaluation, as well as opinion gathering.

Range of Wizards
Activities
There are your basic Wizards such as: quiz, sentence maker, opinion poll, and match-up, that tests student's knowledge and provide instant feedback. Other activities such as empty grid and simple text provide users with a set of tiles that can be edited and turned into interactive activities.
The engaging nature of WordWall comes in the form of its Wizards. The wizards provide you with the ability to bring student ideas and answers – via the WordPad responders - into your lesson. |

Designed to save teachers time, WordWall has developed three resource banks to help you instantly create activities.

The WordWall image bank aggregates content from all the major image search engines and filters out unsuitable images, leaving you with a range of pictures on your chosen lesson/activity topic. The image bank saves you from having to download a gallery onto your computer.
Text bank
Provides users with 2.6 million encyclopaedic articles containing information relating directly to school syllabus subjects. |

Optivote
How does optivote work?
Every student within you class is provided with an Optivote receiver.
The learning material (questions) is displayed on the screen and each student responds to the questions using a handset.
The responses are immediately collected by a small receiver device that plugs into the USB port on your laptop or PC. The individual and collective results can be displayed immediately on screen in graphical form.

All the results are held in the Optivote database for analysis during or after the lesson. Ready made reports give you the results quickly and simple exporting to MS Excel and MS Word gives you all the flexibility you will need.
Optivote Software
Optivote provides you with an easy-to-use software package that makes for quick and easy quiz and question creation.
Optivote's intuitive software includes:
- PowerPoint interface that makes your existing
PowerPoint files interactive, immediately.
- Template system for question creation.
- Full reporting facilities from the database.

Unplanned learning opportunities can be seized at any point in the session with Optivote's Ad Hoc question feature.

How do I decide between RF or IR?
In deciding on the type of Optivote handset for your classroom you need to answer the question: 'how many students will I want to use the system with at any one time?' If the answer is 64 or less then the infra red system will suit you admirably.
The tried and tested infra red technology suits classrooms with its robust performance. If you wish to address larger audiences (over 64) such as first year university lectures, school year groups or large conferences then you would be well advised to invest in the RF systems.
Both IR and RF receivers handle multi-choice questions with up to eight answers. |
